Would You Rather - Wednesday

It's time for another round of Would You Rather - Wednesday

For those of my pals who are new around here (never fear crusaders, if I haven't gotten to you yet, I swear I'm working on it!) here's how it works -- I ask a "Would You Rather" question and you pick between one of two choices. Sometimes the questions are easier. Sometimes, not so much.

The cool part is, there are no right or wrong answers. Just opinions.

As for the results of last week's question (okay, so it was 2 weeks ago . . . sue me). When it comes to having to choose which sitcom you'd rather pattern your life after -- while Seinfeld had a strong showing, Friends was the clear cut winner.

I know it won my vote. I mean, how could I not want a life where my besties and I could recall good times by saying "ooh, remember the one with the ******"

(BTW, "The one with the Lobster" is my all-time fave)

Moving on to this week:

Dear Writer Friends, would you rather . . . . ?

A)  Never see your novels make it through to publication, but knowing you gave it your all

or

B)  Anonymously publish as a ghost writer for a famous author and see your words in print, but never be able to brag about them

Reminder, don't forget to swing by on Friday where we open up the post for this month's Book Club Selection  .  Should be a lot of fun (I just finished the book last night, so I'm pumped & ready to go!)

That's a good one and I've actually thought about it before. I read a lot of V.C. Andrews novels a few years ago, and I noticed some of them didn't seem as good as the others, and even had some of the details from previous novels in the series wrong. That was when I found out she died of breast cancer and a ghost writer took over. To me, the ghostwriter didn't do her justice and I would have thought she'd be rolling in her grave.
So my answer would be to never make it at all, be cause a)if I'm going to write something, I want credit, and b) I would never want to misrepresent someone or fail to portray their voice.
Sorry to be so longwinded!

That one is tough. But I would have to say never be published at all. I can't imagine not getting the credit for all the hard work we do!

Stina said...

I'm going with A, too, for the same reason as Renae said. If any of my books get published, there's no way I'm not letting the world know. :)

WEll, I write under a pseudonym anyway so I think I would choose B. I think I'd have to see them in print. Especially if they paid me a bazillion dollars to write them.lol

Matthew MacNish said...

Definitely B. At least I would get paid. And for me, it's all about the money.

PT Dilloway said...

What Matthew said. Then I could also blackmail the famous author to reveal his/her secret for more money. Or eventually write a tell-all book. Bwahahahahahahahaha.

Angela Scott said...

Hmmm...this is a toughie. How much money we talking here? I flip-flop. I, too, write under a pen name, so ghost writing wouldn't be difficult to select. But I have a big mouth, so I'd proabably slip up and say I wrote it and then be sued. Ahh, the choices.

Okay, I pick A.

Chris Phillips said...

B. when you ghost write it's normally for a celeb, so maybe I could at least meet snooki or something.

PK HREZO said...

Oh I have to take B. The personal fulfillment would be enough for me... I don't need the spotlight.

Meredith said...

Ugh, this is a tough one! I guess B. I really do want to see my words in print!

I'd go A on this one. It may not be printed in your lifetime, but there is still a chance after you have passed on. It's happened before in all medias, and I'm sure it won't stop.

David P. King said...

"A" all the way. My name on a shelf or bust, dead or alive. That's always been my dream as a kid. No ghostwriting for me, thanks :)

I'd have to agree. All or nothing. We worked to hard to get there to not take the credit for it. Why should someone else get the credit when they didn't do anything? They didn't work for it. As for the whole V.C. Andrews thing. I agree, why feel the need for the books to go on that way? At least with Dr. Suesse they give credit to the authors who wrote the extended stories.

Shannon O'Donnell said...

A. definitely

Don't forget that I have an award for you on yesterday's post. :-)

Christopher said...

B. Cause I'd be paid and I could still work on novels that will never get published.

The Happy Whisk said...

Paycheck is a paycheck and the heat bill needs paid. I'll take it regardless of my name being on the cover.

J E Fritz said...

I'd pick B. I don't need anyone to know it's me besides me.

Melissa said...

I go with A. For sure. I'd rather never be published but be proud of what I'd done then never be able to say what I've accomplished.

Adina West said...

I'm going with B, as I've worked commercially as a copywriter anyway, and it doesn't seem that much of a stretch. And like one of the other commenters, I plan to write under a pseudonym anyway...

Natalie Decker said...

I'd go with A. Because It meant I gave it my all, and it meant I'm just one step closer therefore I would feel truly accomplished with myself.

Colene Murphy said...

OH! I hate this one. Lol. I would rather...B. At least I would have a few bragging rights with people I'm close to.

Unknown said...

I'd have to go with B. I need something to back up all my work to make it worthwhile.

Janet Johnson said...

I go with B. I've done it (for a private corp), and it's pretty fulfilling to see something you did in print . . . even if your name isn't on it.

LTM said...

Ooo, that's a hard one. But probably B. Because then your chances of getting picked up are increased. And at least you're still getting to write, right? Urgh. Unless it's that Sookie chick. :D <3

Autumn Shelley said...

What an evil conundrum! Hmmm...I have to say that if it's between only A or B, I'm going with option A. Knowing that I completed some great work that will be famous after I die (right?) for me is better than penning someone else's work.

Trisha said...

I'd pick A, because I don't want to be writing someone else's stories anyway. ;)

Elizabeth Mueller said...

A, definitely A because I am being totally true and honest with myself and writing isn't just for fame, but for the pure joy of it! Great post, I really enjoyed it!

A... I have a thing about B.

Hi fellow crusader! I'm finally stopping by to say hi and follow. What a great idea for Wednesday's and what a hard question! I honestly don't know which I'd prefer - it's such a Sophie's Choice! I guess I'd have to pick A, but I wouldn't be happy about it! Looking forward to more of your blog :)
