Would You Rather -- Wednesday

This week's question is a toughie!!

But before we get to that: real quick blogfest announcement.

Colleen and Alexia are hosting a ST. PATTY'S DAY blogfest.  And you don't even have to be Irish to partake in the festivities, lads and lassies.  Truthfully, I was debating whether to announce it at all, since the less people involved the better my chances at winning one of the prizes!!! Check out the link for details.

In last week's question, you had to decide whether you'd stand your ground even if meant never seeing your work published or settling for a career as ghost writer for a well known author.

The results were pretty interesting. The crew was split right down the middle. The Never Be Published option won by a single vote. Maybe . . .

I had a hard time answering this one, myself. I don't know if I'd be comfortable working as part of a James Patterson-esque machine. Maybe if it was an author whose stories I really enjoyed & I could blend in without people noticing (see VC Andrews comments) then I'd be fine with option B.

So... I guess it's a tie.

Now on to this week:

Would you rather . . . ?

A)  Spend 10 perfect years with your soulmate and then have to carry on the rest of your life without them

or

B)  Spend 60 content years with someone you feel warmly affectionate toward, but know isn't your true love

Don't grumble too much. I'm actually using this question as research for a story.  ;o)

Tough. I would probably say A. I'm a positive person though and look on the bright side of everything. I wouldn't be as devastated afterward. Just my personal feelings though.

Stina said...

Oh this is tough. Is it all or none? Can't I have A then B. Does this mean there's no one for me after I lose my soulmate? If that's true, then I'll take B. I'd be devastated to lose my soulmate and then have no chance of happiness afterwards with someone else. Besides with B, you don't know what you're missing out on. ;)

A. Tis better to have loved and lost ...

I pick B because I just watched my cousin go through A and it isn't pretty.

I've also got one of these polls on my blog today so I hope you'll stop by.

And mine is sort of for story research as well. Great minds, you know.

Ugh, such a tough one! I would pick A, even though it would be awful when it was over.

Summer Frey said...

Well, I don't believe in soul mates, so this one is difficult for me to comprehend...but I guess I'd go with A?

Dan Schwent said...

A. 10 years of happiness beats 60 just being content.

Stacy McKitrick said...

I'd have to go with A. You love who you love. And no matter how long you have with them, you'll not want to waste a second.

I would have to go with A. You can never help who you love. It's better to feel true and love and happiness for a short while, rather than never feel it at all for a lobg period of time.

Patti said...

Right now I'd choose A, but if A happened then I might wish that I'd choosen B.

Just being content is not enought for me. I pick the 10 years. ;-)

Enough* Grrr, typos!

From experience with my parents, A can be dicier than it sounds. Probably B.

Option A for sure. I could endure the heartache to have made the memories. I'd hate to just have a so-so experience in life. I want the best! Plus, I do fine on my own anyway... kind of a loner. Guess that's why I write. :)

B. This was too hard, and I'll spare you the reasoning!

Adina West said...

I'm with Matthew. 'A' all the way. Because I'm assuming you're not cruel enough to insist we can't follow our 'A' with a 'B' when the inevitable happens...

Vine said...

A for sure. I'm 15 so 10 years feels like a really long time.

Colene Murphy said...

Thanks for the shout out Tracy!!!

5 years ago I would have said B, hands down. But then I met my hubs...and (please try not to barf) I couldn't imagine having settled now. Life is too happy with the one you're meant to be with!!

Colene Murphy said...

*so. A ;)

I'd choose A, even though I'd be lost without my hubby. I'd rather know I loved him and he loved me than settling for someone I didn't love at all. Does that even make sense? LOL Great question. A hard one, but it definitely made me think!

Lindsey Edwards said...

That is way to hard of a question to answer, so I think I’m going to opt out of this one. Interesting question though.

I do like Stina's answer. Can I have both? LoL

Shannon O'Donnell said...

I have to say B. I would rather have a lifetime of warm happiness than "most" of a lifetime of sorrow.

Janet Johnson said...

This IS a hard one. If I didn't know the person who was my true love, option B for sure. But if I did, option A, no question.

Look forward to the results. :)

Kari Marie said...

A. 100% A.

LTM said...

oh, A. Fer sure. Like all the way~

But a fun question! :o) <3

Katie said...

Oh man... A 100%. That's your love. The person you're meant to be with. Another love would never compare!

J. Summerset said...

sometimes B is all you get... And having seen what happens with A, B don't look so bad. Though if A happened it happened. My choice is B though.
