My Soul Needs to Laugh

Do you ever have those days, weeks or even months, where despite having the best of intentions, you often find yourself feeling like this little guy?

Yeah, me too!

On any given morning, there are an endless number of things I wake up telling myself I am, without a doubt, going to accomplish today!!

Write. Walk the dogs. Blog. Get an oil change. Read. Workout. Clean the house. Change the wiper blades I bought 3 weeks ago. Catch up on emails. etc. etc, etc.

And, sadly, on *most* days I don't come anywhere close to making a dent in my self-imposed list.

Then--being the typical first-born child that I am--I get pretty down, stressed and feeling like I'm stuck in a rut.

I'm a loser. I'm a slacker. I have time management issues. I need more hours in a day.

It's taken me a while, but I've learned sometimes I need to pull back on the reins a little and remind myself that life isn't meant to be one ginormous "To Do" list.

Sometimes, I let myself get so wrapped up in what needs to be done, that I forget about my addiction to laughing.

I like to laugh, and I like to make other people laugh.

If I'm feeling uber stressed, it's probably because I've forgotten to give myself permission to lighten up & spend some time doing things that will release the pressure.

One of my current favorite pick-me-ups is www.damnyouautocorrect.com This stuff leaves me in tears!!

I also de-stress by doing online jigsaw puzzles

What about you all? Do you have any favorite websites, movies, activities, etc. that are guaranteed to make you laugh no matter what?  Please share!!

I can always count on cracked.com, but now that you mention it, I haven't been there in ages. I hope you feel better soon, Tracy!

Working on my novel is my destresser . . . unless that's what's causing the stress in the first place. In that case, I go for a run to solve my story problems. Oh, and I lock myself in my room so I can't see the messy house. :D

Going on blogger and reading through posts always calms me down!

LOL! Great pic. I learned to make a list and not expect to get everything done, but to hope to achieve just one thing on my list and then I usually get lots more done than if I expect more. I call it fooling the time demons :O)

Damnyouautocorrect.com never, ever fails to make me laugh. Sometimes at the end of a hard day, I just need about ten minutes of guilt-free laughter.

Soccer is my destresser and just being outside. I find when I'm stressed a walk does wonders.

Tracy - your post hit home for me today. I'm going to have to remember that "life isn't meant to be one ginormous "To Do" list."

To relax? Reading works, if I can shut off my brain long enough. DYAC is always a hoot and then there's the always available movie with a hottie (if beloved husband isn't around).

Ahhh, we must be twins! I've been in a deep rut lately as well and it's SO frustrating. I found that taking a break from everything has helped me the most. I think we sometimes just need a reboot.

I am the same way with to-do lists. Reading or writing usually chills me out.

I hear ya! I get in that mode all the time. I have a habit of biting off more than I can chew and then stressing out.

I try to remember something my father in law said once, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."

Kind of a gross analogy, but it's a good reminder to take things slow and get it done when you can. I have to check out your funny site there..... :)
