Would You Rather - Wednesday

So last week, I asked you all if you would rather have 1K blog followers or 10K Twitter followers.

I'm not surprised to find that blog followers won the overall vote (though I wonder if the results would have been different it this was polled on Twitter) . . . but I am surprised with the general perception about Twitter from the people that answered.

Perhaps Twitter doesn't allow the same deep insight as a blog post does, I won't argue that. But on the flip side, when you're pressed for time and want to let people know you're thinking about them, you can easily check in with a dozen or so in the same time it takes to read & respond to your average blog post.

I think, balancing a good blend of the two is a smart idea. Heck, I'm a blogging writer and I'll admit there are very few published authors blogs I visit with any regularity. But I know exactly what's going on with Richelle Mead or Cassandra Clare because (as Betty White would say) they're on The Twitter.

Now on to this week's question:

If you were forced to live as character from a fantasy saga (in their world, not ours), would you rather be in . . . ?

A)  Lord of The Rings

or

B)  Harry Potter

Bonus question:  Which character would you like to be and why?

Omg! Love this question. DEFINITELY Harry Potter. I love that world. Magic, action....wizarding school. Yup. And I would like to be Ginny Weasley because I love the way JK describes her. I love her bravery and her stubbornness and that she is a great flier and can stick up for herself.

Richelle Mead's on Twitter!!!

Okay I'll admit it. I don't follow published author's blogs. Occasionally I check to see what Kiersten White and Suzanne Young have to say, but I've meet them at conferences and they're super sweet. And I only follow a few published YA authors on Twitter.

Okay for today's question, I'll go with HP and I'd be Ginny. She might not be super smart like Hermione, but she is still smart (other than what happened with the diary incident. And that wasn't her fault). She's just so sweet, and everyone liked her. Okay, being the little sister to 5 big brothers might be tough, but oh well. :D

Think I'd go for HP, 'cause I do enjoy my modern toys. Tough call on "who," but my first thought is Mad Eye Moody. He was a lot of fun :)

Oh! Harry Potter hands down. Hmmm...who would I want to be? Ginny (cause she's just all around nice and brave) or Luna (cause it would be fun to be that different).

Definitely Harry Potter, I HATED Lord of the Rings! I'm convulsing in spasms of boredom just thinking about it!

And I'd totally be Hermione. She's smart as a whip. Love that girl!

This is a great question. I love both these books (series) VERY much, but I think LOTR has a slight edge for me, because it was around when I was a kid, and I read it first.

That being said, Middle Earth is incredibly dangerous, and I would probably prefer to live in the actual Wizarding World. Especially if I was a Wizard and it was pre or post Voldy.

Harry Potter most def. And I would be...Robbie Coltrane's character whose name I can't think of. Sorry, brain fart. Why? Because he kept the animals.

B. Harry Potter's world.

I'd probably be Hermione Granger. In school, I was a bit of a know-it-all.

Watch me go against the grain a tad here. LOTR ALL THE WAY. I would be Legolas, 'cause I have the hair already :P On on a more serious note, I chose that character because he was bad ass. Or I would have been a giant walking tree! Both are awesome, but LOtR has my vote.

Ummm Harry Potter! Straight up! This one was EASY! If I could be any character.... I'd either be Luna Lovegood - cause she answers to no one but herself and is always daydreaming.... or I'd be Sirius Black. Weird, because you know he spends thirteen years in prison and dies and his family are jerks but.... I dno. I love his humor, would've killed to live in the marauders era and....turning into a dog and running around would be AWESOME.

I think I do have some misconceptions about Twitter.... I feel like...I just don't know. Sigh.

Lord of the Rings. Nuf' said.
As far as which character I'd want to be, that'd definitely be Aragorn... Or the Witch King.

I love The Lord of the Rings but realistically speaking, as long as you're not Harry Potter or a mudblood you're probably a lot safer in the wizarding world. Plus there's a lot more comfort and ease in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade than you're likely to get in Rohan or Gondor. Heck, even the elves were fading. I'll take the butterbeer and magic, please. No character, except maybe the badass black chick on the quidditch team who went to the yule ball with Fred (unless she died which eludes me). Angelica, is it?
- Sophia.

Grarg! What?! LOTR or HP!? Okay...okay...Being an Elf would rock, being Arwen would ROCK! Being magical would rock too. My HP obsession says HP (modern conveniences+magic, win win right?) BUT my romantical adventure loving self says Arwen!! Had to work this one out before I could answer honestly, sorry! ;) LOTR!

Oh, man, this is such a hard one. I really love them both...but my first thought was LOTRs. So, I'm gonna go with that. Hmm, what character? I'd like to be Aragon (did I spell that right?), but the kick-butt girl verson.

This is so, so difficult!! They are both such good options. I mean LOTR is the ultimate adventure. Going on a journey across the country with close friends to help save the world sounds superb. But I have to go with HP. I love the characters more. Plus, there's the added bonus of being magical and witch-tastic. =)Hopefully, Harry would fall in love with me, not Ginny. Ahh....

Oh, hands down - HARRY POTTER!! While I love the beauty of Middle Earth (outside the realm of Mordor, of course) HP is one of those stories that I consistently wish were real.

And as I like to consider myself pretty darn smart, I'd definitely be Hermione. Who wouldn't want the twins for bros-in-law!? :) (because in my perfect HP world, they're both still alive!)

I've never gotten into Harry Potter so I'll go with Lord of the Rings.

Hmmm...I'm going to weigh in on the LOTR side, and I'd like to be an Elf. Not a specific one, just an Elf. Because I want to live in the trees...

Harry Potter all the way. Hello? Butter Beer? Endless tents? lol. Or should I say Harry Potter so long as I was a witch! :)

Jeigh said...

Harry Potter! And I'd have to be Hermione, because I love Ron!

Misha Gerrick said...

LOTR although I see that the majority is for HP.

I'd like to be either Galadriel (wise lady) or Eowyn because she kicks ass, almost dies and is angry because she wasn't allowed to go fight again.

:-)

Oh I love it! And a really tough question, but I'd have to say LOTR cuz I'm totally in love with Legolas. I'd be Galadriel and have Legolas be a messenger for me. *wink wink*

Harry Potter. Indoor plumbing trumps all other concerns.

That may not be very magical of me, but I have my standards. ;)

The Lord of the Rings. Pretty dresses, yes! Also, swords > wands.

And I would definitely be Eowyn. Who wouldn't want to end up with Faramir?

Can't go past the life of a hobbit in the Shire, hairy bare feet and all - after the baddies have been vanquished and peace restored, of course.

As for which character; well, Tolkein didn't dwell much on the female characters so I suppose I'd be one nobody who's read Tolkein has ever heard of!
